Wow. August blew by quickly. Not a single product new product was released, though a few new bundles did hit the d20pfsrd and DriveThru/RPGNow stores. And though I did a ton of writing, very little actual productivity was seen. Most of the time was spent on soccer fields at two tournaments and practices for my daughters.
So how’d we do in a month where nothing new was produced? Strangely enough, not horrible.
As far as web traffic went, I have StumbleUpon and the #RPGaDay effort to thank for some of the strongest numbers we’ve seen in a few months. 3850+ page views, nearly 2700 unique visits, with 440+ of those being returning visitors. 1100 of those visitors came through StumbleUpon – and most of them for the Penned Forest campaign spark (which had nearly 1000 hits somehow). That’s 200%+ over July, so thank you StumbeUpon folks!
Sales-wise as you might imagine with no new products, we dropped significantly in downloads and dollars. Down 40% from July and nearly 50% from June. But the fact that we continued to sell products at all, while not releasing new ones, was great news. There will be months where productivity lacks and it’s good to see that the products in the catalog continue to sell despite that.
Most of the sales came through the OneBookShelf sites – DTRPG, RPGNow, Wargame Vault, and even DriveThruComics. 78% of my sales (paid or free) go through OBS stores. But I did have some sales at Paizo (mostly freebies) – about 18%. And d20pfsrd had a few downloads and sales as well, coming in at about 3%. So it breaks down to 3 out of 4 sales coming from DTRPG and the other sale usually from Paizo.
Out of the 231 sales, here’s how it broke down:
- LPC Fantasy Names Bundle – 4
- One Spots Bundle – 4
- Brick by Brick: Doors – 2
- Insta-NPCs Bundle – 11
- Big Book of Little Spaces: Haunts -1
- Insta-NPCs #0 (Free) – 53
- Insta-NPCs #1 (13, 11 through bundle)
- Insta-NPCs #2 (12, 11 through bundle)
- Insta-NPCs #3 (13, 11 through bundle)
- Insta-NPCs #4 (13, 11 through bundle)
- Insta-NPCs #5 (22, 11 through bundle)
- Little Spaces: Burial Mounds – 3
- Little Spaces: Creepy Copses -1
- LPC Fantasy Names I, II, III – (4 each, all through bundle)
- Moebius Adventures Core Rules – PWYW – 2 (free)
- Moebius Adventures Sample Adventure (Free) – 5
- One Spot #0 (Free) – 19
- One Spot #1 -#3 – (4 each, all through bundle)
- Spark: The Smiler (Free) – 30
This boils down to:
- Free – 109 – 47%
- Paid – 122 – 53%
More than HALF the downloads were paid. Thank you bundles! (Quick question – would you like to see Little Spaces bundled up as well?)
But here’s the kicker, we shattered a new milestone in August with number of downloads for the year – 2,081 since Jan 1. Not bad considering we only had 384 downloads in all of 2013. That’s an increase of more than 500%. I’ll take that. 🙂
I never in a million years would have thought I’d have 2000 downloads in a year. Sure, a good many of those are freebies – but every download gets eyes on a Moebius product. So I can’t argue with that!
So just like I say every month – thank you Moebius fans. Without you, there would be zero downloads. We are definitely feeling the love!
This week Moebius released a new effort in a different genre – science fiction! Little Spaces: Spacecraft left the planet on Tuesday, so please pick up a copy and let me know what you think. There will be a couple of other space-themed products coming to join it before too long. And Insta-NPCs #6 is still in the works. I have to figure out a few kinks to make it flow better, but eventually you’ll be able to create some amazing artists to keep your rich nobles happy!
Thanks again and now back to your regularly scheduled content!
